The sites of military interest courtesy of Karl-Heinz Kieckers.

Starting with the Evzones.  Then the Byzantine museum.

The Benaki-Museum is also worth a visit with many large paintings regarding the Greek war of independence and is situated quite close to the Byzantine museum and the Military Museum.  The Military Museum at the time Karl-Heinz visited (2005) was a bit of a disappointment with only the floor for the modern period being open, no literature and no foreign language facilities.

The National Museum in the old parliament-building has the arms and armour of Kolokotronis, a selection of captured Turkish flags and original traditional costumes from nearly every Greek province and island.
